2012 MYSA Summer League Registration Now Open!
Coulee Region Minnesota (CRM) Soccer Club
has been fortunate to build a strong and successful program, offering
teams in all levels of play from C3 through Premier for area youth ages
11-19 to develop to their highest soccer potential. This success is in
great part due to securing a superior coaching staff, a decisive board
of directors, and most importantly, by having committed, dedicated
players and parents. Additionally, in order to field the most prepared
teams in the C1 and Premier leagues of MYSA, some further
responsibilities will be required of players, parents and coaches of
those teams.

Soccer - Summer MYSA League
Coulee Region Minnesota
(CRM) Lightning Soccer Club offers youth ages 11-19 the opportunity to
play at a highly competitive level. CRM’s charter is to provide
competitive soccer and to enhance player development for La Crescent,
Caledonia and Winona. CRM also has Wisconsin-based players from La
Crosse, Onalaska, West Salem, Holmen, Sparta and Tomah, as well as
Decorah, Iowa.
The season,
including pre-season practice, typically runs from mid-April to
late July. CRM teams play in South District leagues administered
by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), often
traveling as far as Minneapolis/St. Paul and suburbs.
Games are usually played on two weeknights
with teams practicing on two other weeknights.
Few weekends are involved unless teams opt
to participate in tournaments. Car-pooling is
organized for away games and home games
are played at various fields in La Crescent and
La Crosse.
Teams are
formed by age, gender and skill
level. There are no tryouts and team rosters
are determined by coaching staff after a
review of team needs. Teams are placed in
one of four competitive
levels - Classic 3 is
the least competitive and Premier is the most
competitive. Traditionally, most CRM teams have participated at
the C1 and C2 levels.
Three CRM teams
have won state championships, and three CRM teams have won
promotion to the Premier level.
CRM Director of
Coaching Ed Hoskin aims to continue cultivating a stellar
collection of highly qualified coaches from the region. Many
coaches have played at the college level and several have
college coaching experience. Hoskin believes the club’s
exceptional coaching experience has played a huge part in CRM’s
past successes.
CRM Lightning
Soccer Club is a wonderful way for your child to further develop
and enjoy playing soccer in a highly structured and competitive
environment. It allows players and parents to meet people from
other communities, travel and share a love of soccer.

CRM Team Achieves Premier Status for 2009
The La
Crescent-based U17 Coulee Region Minnesota Lightning won a
South District championship at the Classic 1 level in August
2008. The team then gained promotion to the Minnesota Youth
Soccer Association’s six-team Premier division by having one of
the best records among district winners at MYSA’s state
tournament at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
“It’s a huge achievement,” CRM
Director of Coaching Scott Pirnstill said. “It’s definitely one
of the best teams that has ever been assembled in this area.
They’re very organized, athletic and highly skilled.”
The Lightning, coached by Viterbo
University Men’s Soccer Coach Andy Lee, is represented by
players from La Crescent, Onalaska, West Salem and Tomah. The
team posted a 10-1-1 record in the regular season before going
1-1 at state.
“It’s always been the goal to get
these players to this level,” Lee said. “We won with a lot of
quality, and tactically, the team took a big step this year.”
This marks the third time a CRM
team has reached the Premier level since 2004. Next summer’s
U-18 team will play against sides from Eden Prairie, White Bear
Lake, Woodbury (two teams) and New Hope/Plymouth.
